Overview:
"The purpose of an access arrangement/reasonable adjustment is to ensure, where
possible, that barriers to assessment are removed for a disabled candidate
preventing him/her from being placed at a substantial disadvantage due to
persistent and significant difficulties. The integrity of the assessment is maintained,
whilst at the same time providing access to assessments for a disabled candidate."
(JCQ Regs. 2023. P25)
An exam access arrangement assessment is a short update assessment, which would take place:
- - At any time from the summer term of Year 9 to Spring term Year 11 for GCSE candidates
- - At any time prior to the spring term of Year 13 for Level Three candidates (A Level, BTech Diploma etc)
The assessment usually takes about an hour and complies with current JCQ Regs.
- - Up to 5 short assessments can be conducted within a school day
- - The school must complete Form 8 Part 1 prior to the assessments taking place
